INVITATION TO AUDITION

The Raynier Institute & Foundation, Telluride Foundation, and the Telluride Society for Jazz is pleased to invite young musicians age of 13 and over to audition for a position in the 2009 Telluride Student All-Stars Jazz Ensemble. This group of ten young artists will be chosen from among the finest young jazz musicians nationwide.

The winners of this audition will receive a full scholarship to study and perform the week prior to the Telluride Jazz Celebration from June 1 through June 7 in Telluride, Colorado. The group will open the Festival on Saturday on the Outdoor Stage, as guests of the Celebration and its sponsors. Scholarships will include seven days with room and board (with local host families), five days of an intensive workshop and performance, and a weekend pass to the Jazz Celebration. The Telluride Student Jazz Ensemble will be directed by the renowned Artist / Clinician Director Bob Montgomery. The Telluride Jazz Celebration will be held on June 5-7, 2008. Members will be chosen from the following instrumentation: one jazz pianist and/or jazz guitarist, one jazz bassist, and one jazz drummer. Front line musicians will be chosen from, but not limited to brass, woodwind, string, or vocal performers.

The audition sheet will include specific instructions and materials, which will be the only audition materials accepted for this process. Audition tapes must arrive in the office of Bob Montgomery at 1616 14th Street, Loft 5F, Denver, Co. 80202 no later than April 13, 2009. None will be accepted after that date.
